More Updates from April

More News from April:

About mid-month, Dewey was asked to return to Yes Bay in Ketchikan (a month earlier than expected) as one of the other care-takers was leaving the position to pursue other opportunities. Since Dewey was struggling to get hours in at Steven's Pass (despite a very snowy spring, the ski resort closed mid-April) he jumped at the chance for full-time work and arrangements were made for him to get back to Alaska. By the end of the month, he had packed and caught a ferry out off Bellingham, WA, back up to Ketchikan, AK. It was sad to tell him goodbye, but I know he needed to leave. He's just happier in Alaska. Of course, with his luck, he had some set-backs once he got to Ketchikan and had to stay in town for about a week and a half to do some work on the new Pirate Airworks float plane for Kevin and the lodge. I think he really enjoyed working on the plane but with the constant rain & cold weather in Ketchikan, and the fact that the boat he was staying on leaked, it wasn't very comfortable! He finally made it to the lodge at the end of the month and sounded very happy to have finally made it back "home."
I think that I'm really going to miss spending the summer up there in Alaska - the lodge was a very special place, and again, I feel very blessed to have the memories!
